CABMN YOUTH CENTRE CELEBRATES POTTON’S HERITAGE AND CULTURE, DAY 3 . . .

“EN GARDE”

This photo speaks not only to agriculture in Potton but also to our unique environment and geographic location.
Like much of Quebec, our township is shaped in many different ways.
While much of the property in Mansonville can be used for one purpose or another, there are some junctures that are inaccessible to even the most advanced machinery.
But as persistent Potton folk prove time and time again, we always adapt to the world around us.
For a local farmer the solution has been uncovered by the hiring of his Great Pyrenees dogs as shepherd’s to his flock!
Livestock guardian dogs are not a new creation. Photos dating back over 2 generations (probably further) can be sited to give examples of how the dogs were used before.
Keeping a leery eye out for predators and soaking up the few sun rays that break through a bleak January sky, these dogs earn their keep and will gladly show you the way off the property.
P.s in 2015 a cenus showed there to only be 1 sheep farm left in Mansonville and we discovered this place randomly. A hopeful sight, for sure!
