CABMN YOUTH CENTRE CELEBRATES POTTON’S HERITAGE AND CULTURE, DAY 4 . . .

“HE SLEEPS IN A STORM”

I recall reading a story that spoke of a farmhand who sought employment.
As he gives the rancher his credentials, the rancher is surprised to see the paper he has been given simply reads “he sleeps in a storm”.
A few weeks go by when a powerful twister passes through.
The rancher is up that night checking tarps (they are deployed and anchored tight), stalls (they are spotless), feed troughs (all full), etc.
The rancher realizes now where his farmhand has gone… To bed!
He understands what care and effort went in to the work of his employee before the storm, so they may rest easy.
Passing by this farm I couldn’t help but imagine it’s owner snug in his bed and the time and effort it took to feel security as harsher winter winds whisk by.
A sight to behold, these cattle are heavy in calf and eagerly await warmer spring month’s.
