“THE OLD COVERED BRIDGE”
This grand structure was (in origin) a labor of necessity. It’s weathered frame sits over Mud Creek that can be found on Chemin Bellevue.
This bridge brought much needed economic development to our township and created a less treacherous way of hauling goods across the brook.
Built in 1896 and named “Pont de la Frontière” after it’s location just a little ways from the northern border of Vermont (Frontière means border in French).
The building was designated a historical monument on October 6, 2008 by the municipal council of Potton.
In 2021, this bridge becomes 125 years old and is more of a method to navigate now.
